Kingston, Jamaica, 28 October 2025 — The Secretariat of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) would like to inform all ISA Members States and Observers, as well as all other stakeholders, that the operations of the Secretariat in Kingston may be impaired for the next 24 to 48 hours due to the landfall of Hurricane Melissa.

The Secretariat is closely monitoring Hurricane Melissa´s progress and will make informed decisions based on the latest meteorological data and advice from local authorities. All safety and security services have been ensured in coordination with national authorities to ensure the safety of the ISA personnel. A comprehensive safety assessment will also be conducted before resuming normal operations.

The ISA appreciates the continued support of the Government of Jamaica, and we stand in solidarity with our host country as it faces this unprecedented hurricane. Our thoughts are with the people of Jamaica and with the families of our staff during this challenging time.
