The ISA Legal and Technical Commission began its week-long meeting on Monday 4 February 2013.
Members of the Commission will consider the annual reports of contractors, consider draft recommendations for the guidance of contractors for the assessment of possible environmental impacts arising from exploration for marine minerals in the Area, and also consider draft recommendations for the guidance of contractors relating to the implementation of training obligations.
Contractors, COMRA (China) and JOGMEC (Japan) will also make oral presentations on their applications for approval of a plan of work for exploration for cobalt-rich ferromanganese crusts.
