The Secretariat of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) is accepting proposals for two consultancies for the preparation of draft standards and/or guidelines on 1) electronic monitoring and 2) insurance obligations for the future exploitation of mineral resources in the international seabed area (the Area).
The two standards and/or guidelines to be developed aim to support the implementation of the draft Regulations for the exploitation of mineral resources in the Area. They are part of phase-two standards and guidelines, which are those deemed necessary to be in place prior to the receipt of an application of a plan of work for exploitation. The standards will be legally binding on contractors and ISA, whereas the guidelines will be recommendatory in nature.
Applicants should be familiar with the work of ISA and the legal framework for activities in the Area, and have the requisite expertise in relevant fields as highlighted in the terms of reference. Proposals should be submitted to rfp@isa.org.jm no later than 15 November 2022 1 December 2022.
