For ISA workshop participants and delegates in relation to the outbreak of novel coronavirus
Following the declaration by the World Health Organization (WHO) regarding the current outbreak of novel Coronavirus as a global health emergency, the Government of Jamaica, Ministry of Health and Wellness, has issued a ban on travel to and from China: http://bit.ly/Travel_ban
All persons entering Jamaica from China will be subject to immediate quarantine for a minimum of 14 days. Quarantine facilities for these persons will be provided by the Government of Jamaica and persons will be required to adhere to all restrictions, in line with provisions under the Quarantine Act.
Individuals returning from China who have been granted landing privileges and who show any symptom of the novel Coronavirus will be put in immediate isolation. Isolation facilities are operational at all public hospitals, with a specialist facility available at the National Chest Hospital.
As a result, workshop participants and delegates traveling to attend upcoming events including the Workshop on Capacity Development, Resources and Needs Assessment from 10 to 12 February 2020, and the 26th Session of the ISA Council (Part I) from 17 to 21 February 2020, organised by the International Seabed Authority in Kingston, Jamaica are advised to consult the WHO website for more information on the Coronavirus outbreak: http://bit.ly/WHO_Coronavirus
