H.E. Gerardo Lozano Arredondo presented his credentials to the Secretary-General of the International Seabed Authority on 2 February 2012.

Ambassador Arredondo has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in the Mexican diplomatic service.  Prior to taking up his current position in Jamaica, he was Ambassador of Mexico to St. Lucia. He has served, among others, as Director of Economic Affairs at the Embassy of Mexico in France (2001-2002); Deputy Representative of Mexico to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (1998-2001); Director of Economic and Multilateral Affairs in the Permanent Mission of Mexico to the United Nations (1994-1998); and Director of Multilateral Affairs at the Permanent Mission of Mexico to the International Organizations in Geneva (1998-1992). He has also participated as a member of the Mexican Delegation in numerous International meetings at the bilateral, regional and global levels.

Ambassador Lozano Arredondo has a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, and a Master’s Degree in National Security Planning from the Centre for Advanced Naval Studies.
