Hamburg, Germany – 24 March 2026 – Secretary-General of the International Seabed Authority (ISA), Leticia Carvalho, was welcomed by Judge Tomas Heidar, President of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS) in Hamburg, Germany, at the beginning of the week.
The meeting provided an opportunity for an exchange of views between the members of the Tribunal and the ISA delegation. President Heidar expressed appreciation for the ISA´s Secretary-General visit to the Tribunal, emphasizing the good relations between the two institutions.
Secretary-General Carvalho met with the judges of the Tribunal and informed them about the latest developments at ISA. She was accompanied by Ms. Mariana Durney, Director of the ISA Office for Legal Affairs, and welcomed by Ms. Ximena Hinrichs, Registrar of ITLOS.
Both ITLOS and ISA were established by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
