Standardized approach to the development, approval and review of REMPs

As requested by the Council in decision ISBA/26/C/10, the Legal and Technical Commission is developing a standardized approach to facilitate the development, implementation and review of regional environmental management plans (REMPs) in the Area.

During the 27th Session of the Council held in November 2022, the Legal and Technical Commission presented recommendations on the standardized approach to the Council (ISBA/27/C/37). Following deliberations, the Council requested the Legal and Technical Commission to further review the draft in light of specific considerations raised. It also invited stakeholders to submit written comments on the draft by 15 January 2023. Comments received are available below.
