Twenty-sixth session of the International Seabed Authority (Part II) further postponed to late 2020

ANNOUNCEMENT

The International Seabed Authority (ISA) today announced that the second part of the 26th session of ISA, which was rescheduled to take place in October 2020, has been further postponed, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision has been taken in consultation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica, Senator the Honourable Kamina Johnson Smith, who is also the incumbent President of the ISA Assembly, that due to the evolving COVID-19 situation, circumstances prevent the convening of the face-to-face meetings during the scheduled dates in October 2020.

The ISA Council and Assembly meetings will therefore be rescheduled to a later date, most likely by early December 2020.

Considering the situation, the President of the Assembly and the Acting President of the Council will consult their respective bureaux. Further information concerning that process, as well as specific dates, duration, and format of the 26th session will be communicated in due course.
