ISA/COMRA Co-host Workshop on the Development of REMP for Cobalt-Rich Ferromanganese Crusts in China

JAMAICA, Kingston (27 May 2018) – –  The International Seabed Authority (ISA) and the China Ocean Mineral Resources Research and Development Association (COMRA) are co-hosting a workshop on the Development of a Regional Environmental Management Plan (REMP) for the Cobalt-Rich Ferromanganese Crusts in the northwest Pacific Ocean in Qingdao, Shandong Province, China, from 26 to 29 May 2018.
 
The goals of the workshop are to understand the national, regional and international policies and laws;  to find a consensus on the design of the REMPs as well as the preliminary ideas for its framework; and  to produce a work plan for 2-3 years of scientific collaboration to collect and share the data needed for the design of the REMP. 

Open for Applications: Deep Ocean Resources Development Co., (DORD) 2019 Training Programme

JAMAICA, Kingston (23 May 2018) – – Deep Ocean Resources Development Co., Ltd. (DORD), in accordance with its exploration contract for polymetallic nodules with the International Seabed Authority, is offering five (5) At-Sea training places for candidates from developing States within its 2019 training programme.
  
The objective of the training is to expose trainees to onboard skills and geophysical technique for the exploration of deep-sea mineral resources.

Secretary-General of the International Seabed Authority Announces Key Initiatives at World Maritime University Global Ocean Conference 2018

JAMAICA, Kingston (15 May 2018) – – International Seabed Authority Secretary-General Michael Lodge announced various efforts undertaken by the Authority to develop Transformative Partnerships for Ocean Sustainability at the recent World Maritime University Global Ocean Conference 2018 that was held in Malmö, Sweden, between 8-9 May 2018.

Seabed Authority to Host International Workshop on Developing REMPs

JAMAICA, Kingston (25 April 2018) – – The International Seabed Authority will be hosting a workshop on the Development of a Framework for Regional Environmental Management Plans (REMPs) for Polymetallic Sulphide Deposits in Mid-Ocean Ridges at the University of Szczecin-Geocentrum, in Szczecin, Poland, from 27-29 June 2018.
