ISA successfully concludes virtual workshop on the utilization of images for biodiversity assessment

Today, the International Seabed Authority (ISA) successfully concluded a three-day online workshop on Enhancing Image-based Biodiversity Assessments to Advance Deep-Sea Taxonomy. The workshop, which was organized with the support of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries of Korea and the National Marine Biodiversity Institute of Korea, involved over 120 participants from 41 countries.

Applications now open for an ISA-Ifremer postdoctoral fellowship in deep-sea taxonomy

Applications are now open for a deep-sea taxonomy postdoctoral fellowship with Ifremer for candidates from developing States Members of the International Seabed Authority (ISA). The 18-month fellowship position will focus on developing and testing new methods and technologies for deep-sea species identification and is expected to begin in February 2022.

Indicative programme of work for 26th session of ISA Council and information on modalities for in-person meetings of 26th session of ISA Council and Assembly released

The Secretariat of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) shared on Friday 1 October 2021 with all its Members and Observers the indicative programme of work and the information note on matters for consideration by the ISA Council during the resumed 26th session scheduled to take place on 6-10 December 2021.

Dates of 26th Session of International Seabed Authority Council and Assembly announced

Following communications held with the President of the Assembly and the President of the Council of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) for the 26th session, the Secretariat of ISA informed on Friday 17 September all Members and observers of ISA of the new schedule for the meetings of the twenty-sixth session of the Council and the Assembly.
