ISA Legal and Technical Commission announces the selection of additional candidates to benefit from the Ministry of Earth Sciences of the Government of India training opportunities

On 15 December 2021, the Legal and Technical Commission of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) confirmed the selection of seven additional candidates for a seven-week online training course being provided by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) of the Government of India in accordance with its obligations under its exploration contract for polymetallic nodules with ISA. The selected candidates are:

  • Mr. Jameal Magno from Philippines
  • Mr. Paul Caesar M. Flores from Philippines  
  • Ms. Daisy Kipkoech from Kenya
  • Mr. Hasina Ramaroson from Madagascar
  • Mr. Muhyideen Hamza from Nigeria
  • Mr. Jeremy B. Donaire Zamora from Chile
  • Mr. Taiwo Bolaji from Nigeria

Applications now open for eight at-sea on-board training opportunities with Companhia de Pesquisa de Recursos Minerais, Brazil

Applications are now open for eight (8) at-sea on-board training opportunities for candidates from developing States Members of the International Seabed Authority (ISA). The placements are provided by Companhia de Pesquisa de Recursos Minerais (CPRM, Brazil) in accordance with its obligations under its exploration contract for cobalt-rich ferromanganese crusts with ISA.

ISA Assembly concludes in-person meetings under the 26th session

The 26th session of the Assembly of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) closed on 14 December 2021 after two days of in-person meetings held in Kingston, Jamaica. Some delegations attended the session virtually. The meetings were chaired by Ambassador Denys Wibaux from France as a President of the Assembly during the 26th session.
