As an update to the announcement from 17 January 2025 on the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources’ (BGR) plans for the stakeholder consultations for environmental impact statement (EIS) on AI-controlled nodule harvester testing in the eastern BGR contract area, the BGR is pleased to announce the opening of the consultation period for the EIS regarding the planned testing of Eureka III in early 2026.

Stakeholders are invited to provide input until 2 March 2025. As part of this process, BGR will host two informational webinars to summarize the EIS findings and facilitate discussion, questions and feedback from interested parties.
