The Secretary-General of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) Mr. Michael W. Lodge welcomed H.E. Felix Ramon Garcia Tavera, as the Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic to ISA, on 24 February 2020.
Before joining the Embassy of the Dominican Republic in Jamaica as Ambassador last year, H.E. Felix Garcia served in the Diplomatic Mission in Panama in 2018, and in Columbia from 2009 to 2017.
Receiving the Ambassador’s official credentials in Kingston, Mr. Lodge highlighted the significant contribution the Dominican Republic has made to the work of ISA over the years.
“The Dominican Republic has been an active member of ISA since it became party to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea in 2009, and we look forward to continuing our productive relationship under Ambassador Garcia’s leadership.”
Ambassador Garcia is a graduate of the Autonoma Santo Domingo University, and held the positions of International Observer in the Presidential Elections in Ecuador in 2016 and Columbia in 2010. He also served as Aide to the Presidents of Ecuador from 2008 to 2012 and Honduras in 2008.
