ISA PRs Sept 2020

The newly appointed Permanent Representatives of Bangladesh, Japan, and Korea to the International Seabed Authority (ISA), presented their credentials to ISA Secretary-General Mr. Michael W. Lodge at a series of virtual and in-person ceremonies held in Kingston, Jamaica, this week.

H.E. Ambassador Rabab Fatima, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to ISA presented her credentials at a virtual ceremony held on Monday, 7 September. Ambassador Fatima is also the Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations in New York. She has over 30 years of experience in the foreign service, and has served in Bangladesh missions in China, India, Japan, and Switzerland.

H.E. Ambassador Masaya Fujiwara, Permanent Representative of Japan to ISA presented his credentials in-person, at a ceremony held in Kingston on Monday, 7 September. Ambassador Fujiwara is the newly appointed Ambassador of Japan to Jamaica. He has over 40 years of experience in the foreign service, with postings in Algeria, Canada, France, Indonesia, and Thailand.

Mr. Lim Baeji, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Korea to ISA presented his credentials at a ceremony held in Kingston on Wednesday, 9 September. Mr. Lim is the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Jamaica. He joined the foreign service in 2002 and has served in Korean missions in Australia, Argentina, and Belgium.

In receiving the official credentials this week, Mr. Lodge highlighted the significant contribution Bangladesh, Japan, and Korea have made to ISA over the years, and said that the Authority was looking forward to strengthening cooperation under their new leadership.
