The International Seabed Authority (ISA) is pleased to invite expression of interest to participate in the Conference on Women in the Law of the Sea being organized by the Secretariat in March-June 2022 (dates to be confirmed). The call to participate is open until 11 February 2022.
In December 2022, the international community will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the adoption of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) and take stock of the numerous contributions of UNCLOS to peace and order in the ocean and to the sustainable development of ocean spaces and resources. On this occasion, the Secretariat of ISA will be hosting a three-day conference aimed at highlighting the important contributions of women to the development and implementation of the law of the sea, the participation of women in the institutions created by UNCLOS and related regional and sub-regional organizations and the pathways to enhancing the potential for women to contribute to the law of the sea in the future.
In order to enable a wide range of women experts to contribute to this unique event, specifically women legal experts, but also women economists, scientists, experts in geopolitics and industry representatives working in the field of the law of the sea, the Secretariat of ISA is inviting interested speakers to submit a resume and a short abstract (max 500 words) under one of the sessions listed in the call for expression of interest. Applications should be sent to eosg@isa.org.jm no later than 11 February 2022.
