On 15 July 2022, the Legal and Technical Commission of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) confirmed the selection of eight (8) candidates for at-sea on-board training opportunities provided by Companhia de Pesquisa de Recursos Minerais (CPRM) in accordance with its obligations under its exploration contract for cobalt-rich ferromanganese crusts with ISA.
ISA Council opens Part II of its 27th session
The Council of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) opened the meetings of Part II of its 27th session on Monday, 18 July 2022. The Council will be meeting for ten days until 29 July 2022 and 33 of the 36 members are in attendance, either in person in Kingston, Jamaica or through video link. The main item on the agenda of the Council is the draft regulations on exploitation of mineral resources in the Area (ISBA/25/C/WP.1) prepared by the Legal and Technical Commission (LTC) and submitted to the Council in March 2019.

ISA Legal and Technical Commission and Finance Committee close their meetings under part II of the 27th session
On 15 July 2022, the Legal and Technical Commission (LTC) and the Finance Committee (FC) of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) closed their meetings under the second part of the 27th session of the Authority. The LTC and the FC met in person in Kingston, Jamaica between 4 and 15 July 2022 and between 13 and 15 July, respectively.
Jose Dallo of Spain appointed Director of the Office of Environmental Management and Mineral Resources at the International Seabed Authority

On 13 July 2022, the Secretariat of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) hosted the second ceremony to present end-of-training certificates to nationals from developing States who benefitted from opportunities provided by exploration Contractors of ISA under the Contractors’ Training Programme in 2021 and 2022.
