Today, the International Seabed Authority (ISA) hosted a side event on “Ensuring the sustainable management and stewardship of the deep seabed and its resources for the benefit of all humanity.” The event, organized in the margins of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development 2021, was co-sponsored by the Cook Islands, Ghana, Jamaica, Korea, Malta, Norway, Singapore, South Africa and Ifremer (France).

Invited to attend the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) on sustainable Development as ministerial respondent in the session on “Restoring the conditions for SDG progress in African Countries, least developed countries and landlocked developing Countries”, the Secretary-General of the International Seabed Authority (ISA), H.E. Lodge, highlighted the opportunities opened by the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) to all developing States including the most vulnerable of them as well as the importance of this treaty for the realization of the socio-economic development objectives.

Nominations open for nine online training opportunities with the Ministry of Earth Sciences of the Government of India
Nominations are now open for nine online training opportunities for candidates from developing States Members of the International Seabed Authority (ISA). The placements are provided by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) of the Government of India, in accordance with its obligations under its exploration contract for polymetallic nodules with ISA.
