On International Women’s Day, the Secretary-General of ISA emphasizes renewed commitment to advance women empowerment and leadership in global ocean affairs

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, I wish to reiterate our full commitment to advancing women empowerment and leadership in all areas of work of the International Seabed Authority (ISA), especially in the fields of law of the sea and marine scientific research. I personally attach the highest importance to this commitment. As one of the International Gender Champions since 2020, I have taken several steps to ensure we deliver collective transformative results.

Three African experts complete deployment programme in ISA Secretariat under the ADSR project

Three African experts completed their two-month deployment in the Secretariat of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) as part of the National Experts Deployment Programme of the Africa Deep Seabed Resources (ADSR) project on 20 December 2021. Mr. Godwin Dimike and Dr. Samuel Popoola from Nigeria and Mr. Gerald Mwila from Zambia joined the ISA Secretariat between October and December 2021.

ISA Assembly concludes in-person meetings under the 26th session

The 26th session of the Assembly of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) closed on 14 December 2021 after two days of in-person meetings held in Kingston, Jamaica. Some delegations attended the session virtually. The meetings were chaired by Ambassador Denys Wibaux from France as a President of the Assembly during the 26th session.
